Former Nigerian goalkeeper Idah Peterside has challenged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ban Victor Osimhen from the national team if he fails to apologize to the ex-national team coach, Finidi George.
Recall that on July 15, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen slammed coach Finidi George, saying he had lost respect for him due to comments about his attitude toward the national team.
Finidi, who reportedly resigned as the head coach of the Super Eagles on Saturday, stated that he wouldn’t beg Osimhen to play for the national team after the player withdrew from their last two 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to injury.
Peterside maintained that Osimhen should apologise to Finidi George and ex-Super Eagles players or be banned from the Nigerian national team.

He said this in a viral video that surfaced online. According to him, the attitude of Osimhen should not be allowed and his outburst is disrespectful.
In his words, “Osimhen should not talk the way he did and he needs to apologise to the ex-players and Finidi George.
“Because these players have access to smartphones and social media, they think that they can act anyhow they like.”
He stated that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should rise up and address his display of arrogance by pulling him out of the national team.
“The NFF should rise up to the occasion and ban him from the national team if he fails to apologise because this kind of attitude must not be allowed to go down within the team,” he added.
