In a revelation during a House of Representatives debate, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun claimed a critical shortage of operational vehicles in some police divisions, stating, “Each of these divisions at least requires four functional vehicles, but we have divisions that don’t have any functional operational vehicle as of today.”
Egbetokun addressed National Assembly members, he spoke on the detrimental impact on police efficiency due to inadequate resources. Meanwhile, an investigative report by FIJ, found that resources within the Nigeria Police Force are unevenly distributed.

Contrary to the IGP’s plea for more vehicles, their reporters discovered a police college in Ikeja, Lagos, housing 19 new mini trucks and four pickups left abandoned for months.
