At 30 years old, Pogba faces the prospect of being sidelined until the age of 34, when the punishment concludes. This timeline raises questions about his future in football, particularly as his contract with ‘Vecchia Signora’ is slated to expire two seasons prior to the ban’s conclusion, leaving him potentially as a free agent or contemplating retirement.
The doping allegations stemmed from a positive test for synthetic testosterone on August 20th last year, ahead of a match against Udinese as Juventus embarked on their Serie A campaign.
Although he did not participate in the game, a subsequent test yielded results that did not exonerate him. Despite his plea for a counter-analysis, conducted on October 6th, the findings confirmed his use of the banned substance.

Efforts to resolve the matter through negotiations with Italy’s National Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office proved fruitless, as the agency sought to extend Pogba’s footballing exile until 2028.
