Police Arrest UNIJOS Student for Reportedly Killing and Burying Fellow Student Inside His Room

A student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for reportedly killing another student and burying him inside his room.

According to reports published by other media sources, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old David Nanpon Timmap, allegedly attacked 22-year-old Peter Mata Mafurai with a machete in his residence at Rusau village in Jos North Local Government Area. The victim was said to have died on the spot.

Security sources revealed that the suspect reportedly buried the body inside his room in an attempt to conceal the crime.

A distress call was made around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, prompting the Divisional Police Officer of Laranto Division to lead a team of officers to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.

The remains of the deceased were exhumed and taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police authorities said the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the motive behind the alleged killing.

The University of Jos management has yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
