The Commissioner of Police in Edo, Muhammed Dankwara has issued a stern warning to residents as the Yuletide season approaches.
The police command has officially prohibited the sales and use of fireworks and crackers during the festive period.
Speaking to journalists, the command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, emphasised that the ban applies to everyone, including buyers and dealers, and violators will be subject to prosecution.
He stated, “The command wishes to inform the public, particularly marketers, buyers and users of pyrotechnics such as fireworks, firecrackers, popularly known as knock-out, and their likes that the ban on the use of these items is still in force.”

The directive aims to ensure public safety and maintain order during the celebrations.
He equally urged residents to comply with the ban, emphasizing that law enforcement will be vigilant to enforce the prohibition.
