After One Week of PIDOMNIGERIA’s Arrest, Police Fail to Arraign Him in Court as Promised – David Hundeyin

The Nigerian Police Force has broken its promise to arraign popular whistleblower PIDOMNIGERIA (Isaac Bristol) in court this week. He remains in detention without communication.

PIDOM was arrested on August 5, and his arrest was kept secret by the Police until investigative journalist David Hundeyin revealed the unlawful detention.

The Public Relations Officer of the NPF, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed last Friday that he was in police custody and promised that he would be arraigned in court this week.

However, a week has passed, and he has not been brought to court. He is being held without access to his legal representatives or family members.

PIDOM, known for his leaks exposing irregularities by high-profile public officials, is reportedly being detained at an undisclosed location.

Nigerians have called for the immediate and unconditional release of PIDOM and the other 2,000 #EndBadGovernance protesters detained for protesting against hunger under the current administration.

Civil society organizations and opposition party leaders have also condemned this blatant attack on press freedom by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to David Hundeyin in his post on X handle, he said, “Today makes it a week since the police confirmed that they have@PIDOMNIGERIA in their custody. They promised to arraign him in court this week, but today is Friday and there is no sign of any such arraignment. He is still being held incommunicado. Where is he? #FreePIDOMNow.”
