The police in Kano State have banned the anticipated protests organized by supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) scheduled for this Saturday.

In a press release issued on Friday, the police command strongly advised residents of Kano to demonstrate patriotism by refraining from participating in any form of unlawful gathering, protests, or processions.

The statement emphasized that such gatherings could potentially escalate into violence within the state.

The police assured the public that comprehensive security arrangements have been implemented to safeguard lives and properties during this period.

Residents are urged to comply with the directive and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and order in the region.

”Credible information at the Command’s disposal revealed that some groups of people claiming to be political party supporters of both NNPP and APC are using various media platforms, mobilizing people and planning to enter the streets on Saturday, November 25, 2023, to stage a protest against the Kano State Governorship Appeal Court’s verdict.

”The information further revealed that the intention of the protesters is to shut down the state and attack prominent political party opponents, an action that may likely result in violence,” the statement noted.
