Police Officer Allegedly Shoots 17-Year-Old Boy to Death Over Possession of ‘Knockout’

A policeman has reportedly shot and killed a 17-year-old boy, Emeka Odogwu, in Ozoro community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The gory incident was said to have occurred on Saturday night when policemen stormed the area after having found knockouts (fireworks) in the victim’s possession.

According to report, efforts by the security operatives to arrest the boy were resisted and while he attempted to escape, the policeman corked his rifle and fired at close range the youth on his head, killing him instantly.

A police source in Ozoro said the Area Commander Ozoro, ACP Zakari Mohammed on hearing the sad news was furious and ordered the arrest and detention of the erring police officer.

Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Bright Edafe who confirmed the incident said, “Confirmed and the policeman has been identified and detained.”

Another police source disclosed that the police officer will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for appropriate action.
