In a joint operation, law enforcement agencies including the Department of State Services (DSS), military personnel, vigilantes, and hunters successfully rescued the abducted wife of the slain Olukoro of Koro, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, following a vicious attack by kidnappers in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.
The rescue mission, which culminated in the safe return of the kidnapped wife and a young girl, was conducted through meticulous combing of the forests in the area and boundary zones of the town. A statement from the Kwara State Police Command revealed that a businessman and twelve other suspects have been apprehended in connection with the crime.
Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, authorized the deployment of a police helicopter for aerial surveillance to aid in the search efforts. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Victor Olaiya, affirmed the commitment of law enforcement to ensure that the perpetrators face justice, emphasizing, “The perpetrators of this dastardly act will face the full wrath of the law.”

The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, unharmed. The arrested suspects are undergoing intensive interrogation to facilitate the apprehension of accomplices still at large.
