Police Warn Nigerians to Avoid Fighting or Confronting Criminals Amid Escalating Insecurity

The Nigeria Police Force has advised citizens to prioritize their personal safety if they encounter dangerous situations involving criminals.

Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid resisting or confronting attackers, warning that such actions could escalate the situation and put lives at risk.

Hundeyin emphasized that preserving one’s life is more important than confronting armed or violent criminals, noting that law enforcement agencies are better equipped to handle such threats.

“In the unfortunate event that you find yourself among criminals, do not struggle, do not fight, just stay calm and save your life first. We can always go after these criminals to have them arrested,” he said.

He further highlighted the progress made by the police in tackling criminal syndicates, including the notorious ‘One-Chance’ gangs operating in parts of Abuja.

According to Hundeyin, operatives recently arrested members of the gang responsible for the murder of a lawyer, recovering the victim’s phone in the process.
