Pro-Palestinian Protesters Bring Manhattan Bridge to Standstill in Call for Cease-Fire

Manhattan

In a demonstration organized by the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace, over 1,000 pro-Palestinian activists halted traffic on both sides of the Manhattan Bridge for approximately four hours on Sunday.

The protesters, advocating for a cease-fire, converged on the bridge around 1:45 p.m. on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

The activists, who disrupted the normal flow of traffic, released a video on X showing them sitting in the midst of congestion at the Manhattan-side approach.

To make their message clear, they unfurled a massive banner with the words “Let Gaza Live” on the iconic granite arch of the bridge.

Police managed to reopen the bridge to traffic at 5:40 p.m., but details about any potential arrests were not immediately available.

This incident follows the disruption caused by protesters during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Midtown Manhattan on Thursday.

The parade, featuring 26 floats, 32 balloons, and 8,000 participants, had to navigate around demonstrators, leading law enforcement to intervene in order to ensure a clear path for the event.
