Mr Emmanuel Ijewere, a distinguished member of the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council has passed away.
Widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s leading businessmen with substantial expertise in banking, finance, and agriculture, he notably served as the Chairman of the Big Tent Obi-Datti Independent Campaign Council.
Morris Monye, a prominent figure within the LP, announced Mr Ijewere’s demise, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. Monye remarked, “It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of Mr Emmanuel Ijewere, Chairman of the esteemed Big Tent Obi-Datti Independent Campaign Council. His exceptional commitment, unwavering patience, and sagacious leadership have left an indelible mark.”

The late Mr Ijewere held prestigious positions such as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Institute of Directors (IOD), and the Nigerian Red Cross. Born in 1946, his educational journey took him from Lagos to Ijebu-Ode, Cameroon, and the UK.
His national contributions encompassed Chairmanships of the Agriculture and Food Security Commission and the Modified Value Added Tax Committee.
Mr Ijewere was a member of the Agricultural Transformation Implementation Council (ATIC) under the Chairmanship of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Additionally, he served as a resource person on Agriculture for the Buhari Transition committee and held the position of national coordinator of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NAGB) until his untimely passing. #Labour Party
