Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has announced the federal government’s commitment to enhancing local content integration in innovation, science, and technology across key economic sectors, with the goal of lifting 50 million Nigerian youths out of poverty.
Recall that Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, vowed that his administration would lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
However, according to reports, before the expiration of his administration, at least 133 million Nigerians lived in abject poverty despite a social investment programme that has cost about $7 billion since 2016.
It should also be recalled that this current administration has lied numerously on investments to either mislead or gaslight Nigerians.
Speaking at the launch of the National Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Capacity Building program, titled “Train The Trainee,” organized by the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) in Abuja yesterday, the minister highlighted that training youths in auto gas conversion will drive economic diversification, create job opportunities, foster self-reliance, and reduce youth restiveness.
He said, Economic growth thrives on innovation, science and technology. Our ministry is committed to contributing to Nigeria’s development by building capacity in these areas.
Since assuming office in 2023, we have focused on achieving the priority areas outlined in the Renewed Hope agenda of our dear President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The priority areas are economic reform, national security, agricultural growth, energy development, infrastructure enhancement, education, health, social investment, industrialisation and improved governance.’’
