“I Will Punish All Cabinet Members Who Betrayed me During Nov 11 Poll” – Yahaya Bello Threatens

In a closed-door meeting with key stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State expressed strong determination to take action against members of his cabinet who he claims betrayed him in the lead-up to and during the November 11 governorship election in the state.

Governor Bello, visibly angered by the alleged betrayal, boasted that those found guilty of undermining his campaign efforts would face consequences.

He vowed that betrayal would not be tolerated, emphasizing his commitment to pursuing justice even within his own cabinet.

During the meeting, Bello conveyed his unwavering resolve, stating that he would not hesitate to take drastic measures, including severe consequences for those who obstructed his political progress.

Bello leveled accusations against numerous allies, alleging betrayal due to his selection of Usman Ododo as his successor.

Despite challenges from Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ododo emerged victorious in the governorship election.

Bello expressed his disappointment in certain allies, using strong language to describe them as traitors who had betrayed his trust.

He said, “All of those disgruntled elements” moved against him “after everything I did for them.”

“I was fighting known enemies while enemies within were pulling me down. God punish you all.

“They said if it can’t be me, then it can’t be Ododo. They were busy conniving and conspiring with the opposition.

“They call themselves leaders, but were misleading the people.

“Shame on you all,” he said.

Bello cautioned that should he ever catch the “leaders” making threats against their subordinates, he would handle the situation with strict consequences.

The Governor pointed a direct finger at a Senator from the state whom he said was “wrecked” by his brothers before he (Governor Bello) revived him from his alleged financial bankruptcy.

“Today, you are a second-term serving senator. You were laughing with us while you went behind to text opposition messages to hinder our party from having 25 percent in some local governments,” he added.
