Children’s Day: It’s Unacceptable That Four Out of Ten Nigerian Children are Child Labourers; They Deserve Quality Education, Safe Environment —Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has emphasized the need for quality education, healthcare, and a safe environment for Nigerian children.

In a Children’s Day message released by his spokesperson, Yunusa Tanko, on Monday in Awka, Obi highlighted that children are the future of the nation and should be provided with everything necessary for their proper development.

“Every Nigerian child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, and a safe and secure environment to live and thrive,” said Mr Obi.

He added, “We must, therefore, invest in these key areas of development for their sake and the future of society.”

According to Mr Obi, it is unacceptable that four out of every ten Nigerian children are child labourers.

“On this day, we celebrate Children’s Day. I rejoice with all Nigerian children, for whose sake we remain firmly committed to our struggle for a new Nigeria.

“They are future leaders of our society, and this occasion also reminds us of the need to invest in their growth and support and nurture their dreams.

“Every Nigerian child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, and a safe, secure environment to live and thrive.

“We must, therefore, invest in these key areas of development for their sake and the future of society.”

Obi highlighted the alarming statistic that four out of every ten Nigerian children are child laborers, calling it unacceptable.
