Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Everlasting Light), Oladele Jegede, has appealed to the National Assembly and Bola Tinubu to establish a national Thanksgiving day in Nigeria.
The appeal was made during the annual women’s convention titled ‘Overflowing with Gratitude’ held on Sunday at the church auditorium in Lugbe, Abuja.
Pastor Jegede expressed gratitude to God for the nation’s survival despite various challenges, including past elections and the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said, “We are giving thanks to God Almighty today because, despite the situation in the country and in the world at large, the Almighty God has sustained us. God has made us to be a victor.”

He further emphasized the need for a dedicated day of thanksgiving, saying, “I therefore believe that as a country we should have a time to be thanking God because, despite the situation in the country, God still sustains us.”
Echoing Pastor Jegede’s sentiments, Mrs. Lydia Jegede also called on Tinubu and lawmakers to consider setting up a ‘National Thanksgiving Day’ in the country.
She stressed that only those who are truly grateful can enjoy the blessings of God, and she appealed to Bola Tinubu to use his office to establish a day for Nigerians to praise God once a year.
