In a courtroom revelation that sent shockwaves through the University of Calabar community, an investigator from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Lucy Ogechi, disclosed on Thursday an unsettling connection between a witness and the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, Cyril Ndifon.
During cross-examination, Joe Agi (SAN), counsel for the defendant, hinted at a potential romantic involvement between the witness, whose identity remains protected by court order, and Ndifon. Agi directed Ogechi to read excerpts from forensic reports detailing exchanges between the witness and the professor. Ogechi’s response shed light on a darker truth: the witness’s declaration of affection was merely a ploy to secure admission into the university.
“The witness is in an inappropriate relationship with the first defendant. She did that to gain admission,” Ogechi affirmed.

Moreover, Ogechi revealed Ndifon’s troubling directive for the witness to spy on the university panel investigating him. “The first defendant had given her the Zoom link password and instructed her to spy,” Ogechi stated.
Highlighting the gravity of the allegations, Ogechi emphasized the continuity of accusations against Ndifon dating back to 2015, with investigations uncovering a pattern of misconduct extending to 2023.
The trial, which includes Ndifon and lawyer Sunny Anyanwu facing charges of sexual harassment and obstruction of justice, has stirred significant attention. Anyanwu faces additional allegations for allegedly threatening a prosecution witness during the proceedings.
As the courtroom adjourned until February 5, anticipation mounts for further revelations and the testimony of the ICPC’s star witness. #Dean
