Delta Killings: Remains of Soldiers Arrive Abuja Military Cemetery For Burial

The bodies of 17 brave military personnel, who tragically lost their lives on March 14, 2024, in the Okuama village of the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, have been brought to the National Military Cemetery in Abuja for burial.

These soldiers were gruesomely murdered by residents of the riverine village while they were on a peace mission to resolve conflicts between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in the area. They will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony include the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla. Additionally, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau is in attendance.

Several governors, including Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, Usman Ododo of Kogi, Uba Sani of Kaduna, and Abba Yusuf of Kano, have already taken their seats at the burial site, awaiting the arrival of Bola Tinubu.

Earlier announcements confirmed Tinubu’s attendance at the solemn event to honor the gallantry and valor of these fallen soldiers.
