Nigerians Must Face It; Removing Fuel Subsidy Was Hard for Me – Tinubu

Chief Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that removing the fuel subsidy was a difficult decision but insisted that Nigerians must face the economic reality.

Speaking on Friday while receiving a delegation from the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu stated that the measure was necessary to prevent the country from going bankrupt.

The delegation was led by CBCN President, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji.

Tinubu admitted that the ongoing economic reforms have caused hardship but emphasized that they are essential for building a stronger and more sustainable economy for future generations.

Tinubu stated, “Yes, removing the fuel subsidy was hard, tough for me, but it’s a hard choice that Nigeria must face. We are not going to bankrupt our country.

“We were spending the investment of the future of our children yet unborn; we were spending their rights. Poverty has no religious basis. It affects all, and we must fight it together,” he added.
