Tension rose at the Ajagba Ward 2 collation centre in Ondo State as a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) agent confronted election officials over alleged discrepancies in the results being presented.
The agent accused the officials of tampering with figures, stating, “The results aren’t correct.” The dispute caused a temporary disruption of proceedings as party agents and election officials engaged in a heated exchange.
In a video clip released by TheCable on X, the altercation is captured, showing the PDP agent demanding accountability and transparency from the election officials..
According to the video clip, the PDP agent insisted on a thorough review of the results before they could be transmitted to higher collation centers.
The official on duty, however, maintained that the results had been properly collated in line with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This confrontation has added to the growing concerns surrounding the transparency of the 2024 governorship election in the state.
The video, which has since gone viral, has reignited discussions about the importance of credible elections and the need for all stakeholders to uphold democratic principles during the ongoing #OndoDecides2024 exercise.
