Reuben Abati and Nyesom Wike

VIDEO: Reuben Abati Contested as Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Failed Woefully – Nyesom Wike

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has taken a swipe at Reuben Abati, accusing him of failing woefully in his political ambitions.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, Wike criticized Abati for his unsuccessful bid as the deputy governor of Ogun State, emphasizing that even as a deputy gubernatorial candidate, Abati could not secure victory.

“Reuben contested as deputy governor in Ogun State. First time. Failed and failed woefully. Not as governor, deputy. He failed woefully,” Wike said.

The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing exchanges between the two, following Abati’s recent commentary criticizing Wike’s actions and statements as a political leader.

Wike dismissed allegations that he viewed Rivers State as his “personal estate” and defended his tenure as governor. He claimed his leadership did not cause distress to the people of Rivers. “Some of you call me and say, oh, see what he said.

Why are you people always worrying yourself? I said, I will not make them cry, and I didn’t make them cry,” Wike stated.

He further called Abati’s credentials into question, stating, “If my father says something wrong, is that to make you cry? I don’t think that is the level of a first-class degree holder.”

Wike also highlighted his political record, boasting that he had never lost an election since 1999 and emphasizing his independence and resilience in Nigerian politics.
