Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Condemns Extortion by Thugs During Lagos Heavy Downpour, Calls it “Parasitic Mindset” Crippling Nigeria

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial candidate for Labour Party, has criticized the illegal extortion by thugs in Lagos during the heavy downpour on Wednesday.

Rhodes-Vivour described it as a form of parasitic mindset that cripples the nation.

He also criticized Tinubu’s government for spending over 21 billion Naira on Shettima’s lodge, while citizens are suffering.

Taking to his X handle on Wednesday, he wrote, “This is the parasitic mindset that is crippling this nation. Leaders that would spend 21 billion on ONE man’s residence in the midst of so much suffering, to those that would harass you for money when your car breaks down on the road, to those that will impose a fee to avoid flooded paths.

Rhodes-Vivour further criticised the detrimental mindset where “anything goes at the detriment of the people,” specifically pointing out the involvement of INEC staff in election rigging and the police turning a blind eye to these illegal activities.

“Anything goes at the detriment of the people, from the Inec staff that helped rig elections to the police that looked the other way and all else involved. This mindset of “profits at the detriment of the people” MUST BE WEEDED OUT. If not, we simply will never grow. At some point, there must be consequences for being complicit in imposing mass suffering on the people at all or any level. #ourlagos
