Prominent socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has expressed strong doubts about the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system ahead of 2027 elections.
In a post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, Yesufu said she has no confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary, or the security agencies to conduct a credible election.
According to her, she is already prepared for possible electoral malpractice and violence. She wrote, “I do not have any faith that INEC is going to do the right thing. In fact, I am prepared for their rigging!
“Neither do I have faith that judiciary or security agencies will do the right thing!
“In fact, I expect plain rigging and violence to be unleashed by those who rigged before.
“What I am very certain of is that if Nigerians decide that no jupiter will rig their votes, I can assure you that not a single vote will be rigged.

“Any person that wants to rig election will be treated as a terrorist.
“My hope is in citizens voting and ensuring their votes are counted and recorded for their candidates.”
Her statement comes following the Senate’s approval of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
