Rivers crisis: Wike Denies Godfatherism, Claims Fubara Never Knelt Before Him

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied accusations of playing godfatherism over the Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara.

Wike also refuted claims that Fubara had knelt before him in a plea.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Wike rejected the idea of exerting control over Fubara, asserting that he has distanced himself from the governor’s affairs.

Wike stated, “What is the meaning of godfatherism? Have I not left Fubara alone? What did he kneel down to me for? Never, he did not kneel down for me, what offense did he commit?

“The point I’m making is that Mr President cannot as the father of the nation say this should be done and you started laying blames.”

The minister also accused the Rivers governor of disregarding court rulings and criticized Fubara’s alleged impunity, noting that such behavior is unacceptable.
