Rivers State Set to Immortalize Late Herbert Wigwe’s Legacy

The Rivers State government has announced its intention to immortalize the legacy of late Herbert Wigwe, who tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on February 9 in California, USA. Governor Siminalayi Fubara revealed this commitment during a tribute night organized for the former Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank PLC.

Describing Wigwe’s life as impactful and his contributions to society as significant, Governor Fubara affirmed the state’s determination to honor him as a distinguished son of Rivers State. The tribute night, hosted by the Port Harcourt City One Love Family, served as a platform to commemorate and celebrate the life of the late Herbert Wigwe.

Governor Fubara, speaking at the event, expressed the profound loss felt by the state, both personally as an in-law and collectively as a community mourning the passing of a trailblazing individual. He emphasized Wigwe’s unwavering pursuit of success and his remarkable social impact, which resonated deeply with the ethos of Rivers people.

Reflecting on the transient nature of life, Governor Fubara urged attendees to cherish the value of existence and strive to leave behind a meaningful legacy. He emphasized the importance of living a life of purpose and fostering harmony in interpersonal relationships.

Furthermore, Governor Fubara called upon members of the Port Harcourt One Love Family to uphold and perpetuate the social initiatives championed by late Herbert Wigwe, underscoring the enduring impact of his philanthropic endeavors.

Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of Platform Petroleum Ltd, and former governorship candidate of Accord in the 2023 general elections in the state, paid tribute to Wigwe’s indelible legacy. He lauded Wigwe’s effective communication skills and his steadfast determination to achieve his goals, describing him as a larger-than-life figure who will be deeply missed.
