I Don’t Know How to Pretend Like Some Politicians— El-Rufai Calls Out Pretenders in Government

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that he does not engage in political theatrics, unlike some politicians who, according to him, behave like “Nollywood actors” once they assume office.

El-Rufai, who has been involved in a public dispute with members of Bola Tinubu’s administration, made this remark in response to a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The controversy began when El-Rufai criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for straying from its core principles, saying he no longer recognizes the party.

His comments sparked reactions from the presidency, with presidential aide Daniel Bwala questioning whether he would have made the same statement if he were part of Tinubu’s cabinet.

Responding to Bwala, El-Rufai insisted that he would still criticize APC, even if he had been involved in the administration.

On Saturday, he took another swipe at politicians he believes engage in political theatrics. Reacting to a post by social media user @irahabib, who praised El-Rufai’s bluntness, the former governor wrote:

“Thanks for your kind words, @irahabib. Truly, I don’t know how to pretend. Being a Nollywood actor in governance is for some others, not some of us. Have a nice day.”
