Nigerian Journalist and broadcaster, Rufai Oseni has condemned misplacement of national priorities under the Bola Tinubu government, saying he hardly sleeps in the night since Health Minister Ali Pate revealed that the ministry was unable to utilise its 2025 capital budget, having received only N36 million out of the N218 billion appropriated for the year.
Ali Pate, coordinating minister of health and social welfare recently attributed the poor implementation of his ministry’s 2025 capital projects to delays in the release of appropriated funds.
He spoke in Abuja on Monday during the 2026 budget defence before the house of representatives committee on healthcare services.
Pate told lawmakers that although the ministry’s personnel allocation was fully released and utilised, capital spending suffered major setbacks due to funding constraints linked to the federal government’s cash management system.
He explained that the ministry received only about N36 million from the N218 billion capital allocation approved for 2025, leaving most planned infrastructure and programme activities unimplemented.

The development is coming after the Federal Government released ₦500 million to the office of the Special Adviser on Media & Policy Communication for what was described as “strategic global media engagement.”
The SA office was with coordinating media strategy and public messaging at both national and international levels with the funds.

Reacting in a post on X, Rufai Oseni, faulted the developments describing them as misplacement of priorities.
‘’I haven’t slept through the night since Min. of a health Ali Pate revealed that only N36 million was released for capital projects for the health ministry last year. N500 million was released to SA to the President on Media& Policy comms for ‘strategic global media engagement.’’
