“People Are Dying and You’re Playing Politics” — Salako Slams Bashir Ahmad for Dismissing Terror Attacks as “Reckless Narrative”

Former Labour Party spokesperson in Lagos, Ife Salako, has criticized Bashir Ahmad, former presidential aide to former President Buhari, for dismissing public outrage over terrorist attacks in Nigeria.

Salako’s comments came after Ahmad, in a post on X, referred to concerns over terrorist attacks as a “reckless narrative” and suggested that Nigerians should wait until the 2027 elections to express dissatisfaction.

Ahmad defended the current administration, asserting that the 2023 campaign of President Tinubu and his running mate did not exploit religion, and blamed opposition figures for politicizing national issues.

Reacting to Ahmad, Salako wrote: “Your people are dying and you’re here playing politics by referring to terrorist attacks as ‘reckless narrative’? Bashir! Kindly google the word HUMANITY.”

The exchange drew reactions from social media users.

One user @Jaywears wrote, “What do you expect from someone that has no regard for human life,” Similarly @OlamibodeAAB added, “Bashir knows what he is doing. That guy is not human. He is a terrorist sympathizer.”

The conversation highlights the growing public frustration over the government’s handling of insecurity, with many insisting that political narratives should not overshadow the urgent need to protect lives.
