Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has emphasized the importance of professionalism and the avoidance of corrupt practices and human rights violations among police officers.
Kano State Police Commissioner CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel said this during a lecture organized for the officers and personnel of the operation and criminal investigation departments within the state command on Wednesday.

He underscored that this lecture aligns with the Inspector-General’s directives to all police commands and units, which require the strict implementation of the Inspector-General of Police’s Zero Tolerance Policy regarding any form of human rights abuse, corrupt practices, or inappropriate behavior exhibited by police officers while on duty.
Gumel further stressed that police officers must exhibit professionalism, treat the public with courtesy, and demonstrate diligence in their investigative and prosecutorial efforts.
“You must be professional, civil to members of the public, diligent in investigation and prosecution, avoid all forms of corruption, and respect the fundamental rights of citizens while conducting investigations,” he said.
He lauded the officers for their dedication to combating crime and encouraged them to maintain their commitment while performing their duties.
