In a significant political development, a considerable number of members from both the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) made a decisive move over the weekend by defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
Notable among the defectors was Karibo Wilson, a former House of Assembly candidate for Ahoada West constituency, who attributed his decision to the pursuit of “people’s interests.”
This wave of defections follows the recent defection of 27 PDP lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly to the APC.
The political landscape in the state has been marked by tension, due to political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Amidst this political turbulence, Chieftain Karibo Wilson expressed confidence in Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s widespread support from the people of the state.
“Rivers people are in support of Fubara—the elders, the traditional rulers, senior political and opinion leaders, the youths, women—they are in support,” he disclosed.
