Senate Approves N2.17 Trillion 2023 Budget

The Senate on Thursday approved the N2.17 trillion 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, following its third reading.

Prior to the bill’s passage, the Senate endorsed the consolidated report from joint sessions of both chambers, presented by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee (APC Ogun West).

The decision comes amidst widespread criticism for extravagant items in the budget, including the allocation of N5 billion towards a luxurious presidential yacht and N1.5 billion for official vehicles for the First Lady.

Despite these controversial allocations, they pressed ahead with the bill’s approval. The supplementary budget is expected to address key financial needs for the upcoming year.
