Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, has voiced strong criticism of the recent renovation work carried out in the Senate Chamber, characterizing it as a ‘poor job’.

Ndume expressed his discontent during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today this Tuesday.

Utilizing Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules, Ndume likened the Chamber to a conference hall, highlighting several inadequacies such as a deficient sound system evidenced by echoes, poor seating arrangements, and the absence of voting devices, among other issues.

In his words, “Since day one, precisely last week Tuesday, when we moved into this Chamber that was supposed to have been renovated, there have been complaints here and there.”

Responding to Ndume’s concerns, Senate President Godswill Akpabio clarified that issues related to seating arrangements among senators had been resolved to 99.9%.

Akpabio further revealed that the renovation contract was not executed during the tenure of the 10th National Assembly.
