In a move towards safeguarding the rights and well-being of women and girls in Nigeria, the Senate Committee on Women Affairs (SCOWAS) has called for a unified national effort to eliminate violence against females.
At the launch event of “The OrangeNIGERIA” project, Senate Committee Chairman on Women Affairs, Ireti Kingibe, passionately urged for a collective commitment to creating a society liberated from the menace of gender-based violence (GBV).
The initiative is strategically designed to tackle the underlying causes of GBV through concerted collaboration, placing paramount importance on inclusivity, education, and community engagement, according to Kingibe.
During her address at the project’s inauguration, Kingibe emphasized that OrangeNIGERIA aims to empower individuals to take a stand against violence by fostering open and constructive conversations.
The project’s vision extends beyond mere rhetoric, focusing on practical steps to bring about positive change in societal attitudes towards GBV.

The Senate and SCOWAS invite citizens, grassroots organizations, and corporate partners to join hands in this transformative effort.
United in their efforts, they strive to create a future devoid of Gender-Based Violence, where the values of equality and respect triumph.
