The Senate has ordered the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to halt all demolitions of structures in the FCT unless approved by a court of competent jurisdiction.
The suspension will remain in place pending the conclusion of an investigation by an ad hoc committee set up by the Senate to assess the legality of the demolitions.

The committee, led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, comprises seven additional members.
