Fear of Protest Forced Senate to Reopen Natasha’s Office, Real Power Belongs to Nigerians – Serah Ibrahim

Activist Serah Ibrahim has accused the Senate of reopening Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office only because of public pressure after Nigerians stormed the National Assembly in protest.

Writing on her official X account, Ibrahim argued that the upper chamber became nervous when it learnt of thousands of citizens marching to demand Natasha’s return.

“It’s funny how they heard thousands of people were marching to the Senate and then made a video to quickly announce that Senator Natasha’s office is now open,” she said.

She insisted that the Senate had never gone to such lengths in past cases, pointing out that Abdul Ningi was suspended in 2024 and Ali Ndume before him without any video announcement of their offices reopening.

“But they saw thousands of people marching to the Senate and became jittery and not only announced Senator Natasha’s office open but were sending the videos to blogs to inform everyone in a bid to stop the protest,” she added.

Her comments came on the same day Natasha returned to the National Assembly with her supporters, hours after appearing in court over a case involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.

Ibrahim urged Nigerians to recognise their power and act decisively against corrupt politicians, stressing that collective force can reclaim the country from Bola Tinubu’s ruling class.

“Nigerians, the power is in your hands. IT CAN BE DONE; we can get back this country when we are ready,” she declared.

The activist’s intervention has intensified debate online, with many users agreeing that the Senate bowed to pressure only to avoid wider unrest, a sign of the growing frustration with Tinubu’s APC government.
