Sextuplets Born to Nigerian Couple After 13 Years of Waiting

A Nigerian couple who had been married for 13 years and had no children were blessed with six babies at once on Monday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Precious Ifeanyi, a businesswoman from Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that she conceived the sextuplets, four girls and two boys, through In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).

She said she was surprised to find out that she had six babies instead of five, as she had been told during her pregnancy.

She delivered the babies at 30 weeks by Cesarean Section and said she was grateful to God for changing her story.

She narrated her ordeal of waiting for a child for 13 years and spending a lot of money on treatments and consultations without success.

According to her, she and her husband, a pastor with Living Faith Church, Chikara in Kogi State, had accepted to wait for God’s time until He visited them with this miracle.

She said this was her first attempt at IVF and that she started the process at Fertile Ground Hospital, Jos, and moved to the National Hospital, Abuja, when she was four months pregnant.

She described her pregnancy as challenging and exhausting, saying she experienced many difficulties and discomforts from the second week.

She said she had two previous miscarriages but this pregnancy was unique and she endured it with patience.

“People who visited me about a month ago saw what I was going through. At a point, I was impatient to deliver so that I could rest.

“The last two weeks before delivery was the climax of it all, I could not sleep, sitting down, standing, and lying down were all not easy.

“However I was encouraged by Dr Bello. The last week he encouraged me to go another week before delivering the babies and I am glad I did because we did not even know that there was an extra baby,” she narrated.

Precious advised other women who are in the same situation she was in to trust God and believe that nothing is impossible for Him.

She also appealed for assistance from well-wishers, as the family needs help to take care of the six babies.

She said they had asked God for a specific number of children but He gave them more than they expected.

She mentioned that her husband was also delighted to welcome the babies and the doctors were monitoring their condition.
