Colombian pop sensation Shakira has reached a settlement with Spanish prosecutors over charges of tax evasion amounting to 14.5 million euros ($15.74 million) for the period between 2012 and 2014.
The agreement, announced on Monday, effectively puts an end to the trial proceedings.
As part of the settlement, the prosecution has agreed to replace the singer’s jail time with fines. This decision was announced by the judge during the first hearing of the trial.
