The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled power outage lasting six hours for some residents of the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday.
According to Ndidi Mbah, the commission’s spokesperson, the outage is necessary to facilitate annual preventive maintenance on its 132kV line 1 at both Gwagwalada and Apo Transmission Substations. Mbah stated in a statement on Friday that the maintenance is scheduled to take place from 9 am to 3 pm.
As a result, Mbah noted that there will be a power interruption at the 132/33kV Kukwaba Transmission Substation for six hours on Saturday.
The affected areas include parts of Lokogoma, Kabusa Garden, TradeMore, Pyakasa, Aherita, Chika, Games Village, Stadium, Wuye, Utako, Life Camp, and Idu, according to the TCN Public Affairs General Manager.

It is worth noting that the TCN Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132KV Transmission Line 1 in the Abuja axis was previously attacked by suspected vandals in December.
The vandalism occurred at night, resulting in the cutoff of bulk power supply on the line, prompting an investigation by TCN linesmen, who discovered a vandalized portion of the line route between Tower 23 and Tower 25.
