We Are Ready to Engage in ‘Meaningful Dialogue’ With Terrorists Who Are Willing to Lay Down Their Weapons—Sokoto Governor

The Sokoto government under Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has stated that it is ready to dialogue with terrorists who are ready to lay down their weapons.

He stated that the use of force has been useful, hence the need for meaningful dialogue.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the special adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on security, Ahmed Usman.

Mr Usman reiterated the Sokoto government’s commitment to peace and security.

“Many historical conflicts have not ended solely through the use of force, but through meaningful dialogue.

“Government has reaffirmed its readiness to negotiate with bandits who demonstrate a genuine commitment to surrender and reintegrate peacefully into society,” the statement said.
