We’ll Provide Solar-Powered Boreholes – Governor Zulum Promises Amid Water Crisis in Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has pledged his administration’s dedication to transforming all boreholes in Maiduguri and its surroundings into solar-powered systems to ensure a consistent water supply.

Zulum conveyed this commitment during a broadcast addressing the water scarcity issue in the city, primarily caused by unreliable electricity provision.

he was undertaking the lesser Hajj (Umrah), Governor Zulum revealed that alternative measures were being swiftly implemented to alleviate the water crisis within 48 hours.

Expressing concern, he pointed instances of corruption among individuals responsible for managing government boreholes in the city.

Despite being allocated fuel for six hours daily, these individuals only pumped water for one hour, exacerbating the scarcity issue.

“We are going to set up committees for the boreholes in each ward, involving residents to monitor and address the problem.

“Residents need to sit up and assist the government in ensuring service delivery,” Mr Zulum said.

He encouraged citizens to utilize the Ramadan period for prayers, seeking peace, prosperity, and divine intervention in revealing individuals undermining government programs and policies.

Mr. Zulum highlighted recent arrests of individuals associated with fire incidents in displaced persons camps, expressing confidence that with increased dedication and prayers from everyone, divine intervention would continue to unveil adversaries of progress in the state.
