The Nigerian Immigration Service detained Omoyele Sowore, the leader of the #RevolutionNow Movement, upon his arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday.

Sowore, who had been in the United States with his family, was held immediately after landing in Nigeria.

His detention coincided with a gathering of activists and members of the Take It Back Movement, who had assembled at the airport to welcome him.

Sowore’s flight departed Washington Dulles International Airport at 6:14 AM EDT, arriving in Lagos around 9:43 AM WAT.
