Tragedy unfolded on Sunday afternoon on the Lagos-Ibadan highway as a speeding driver lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a fatal crash just after the Iperu-Ogere bridge.
The clock struck 02:38 pm when the ill-fated event occurred, sending shockwaves through the Sagamu-Interchange area of Ogun State.
According to Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps spokesperson in Ogun, the driver of the Toyota car, bearing the registration number JJJ25HS, succumbed to the perilous allure of speed. Okpe disclosed, “The driver lost control and ran into a drainage by the roadside.”
Regrettably, the aftermath proved devastating, with two male adults losing their lives in the collision. One female adult was not spared, sustaining injuries that necessitated immediate medical attention. The injured victim was swiftly transported to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the lifeless bodies of the deceased were somberly deposited at the FOS morgue in Ipara.

In response to the tragic incident, Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, issued a poignant advisory to motorists. Uga emphasized the imperative to “drive responsibly and shun excessive speed,” urging a collective commitment to preventing such heart-wrenching accidents on the nation’s roads.
