I Have Much to Teach Nigerian Youths About Responsibility; Sponsors of Protests Do Not Love Our Country — Tinubu

Despite his controversial history involving drug trafficking and certificate forgery, Chief Bola Tinubu has emphasized that he has much to teach Nigerian youths about being responsible citizens.

He also condemned the sponsors of planned nationwide protests in August as unpatriotic and holding foreign passports.

During a meeting with a delegation of Islamic leaders led by Sheikh Bala Lau at the State House on Thursday, Tinubu highlighted the need for the older generation to prioritize the future of Nigerian children.

He stated, “What should be uppermost in our minds is the future of our children. We have a lot to teach them on what it takes to be a good citizen and what it takes to be a responsible citizen.”

Criticizing the sponsors of the upcoming protests over economic hardships, Tinubu remarked, “The sponsors of protests do not love our country. They have no love for the nation. They do not understand citizenship. They have alternative passports.”

However, Tinubu’s own public image has been tarnished by allegations of corrupt enrichment, certificate forgery, identity theft, ownership of a diplomatic Guinean passport, and involvement in narcotics trafficking. These accusations cast doubt on his moral authority to instruct young Nigerians on responsible citizenship.

In the 1990s, Tinubu forfeited $460,000 to the U.S. government in connection with a drug trafficking case. This issue resurfaced after he declared his intention to run for president in 2022.

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois released new documents detailing Tinubu’s encounter with American authorities over allegations of narcotics trafficking and money laundering.

Additionally, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia is set to consider a motion to release or withhold Tinubu’s records following a FOIA request by Aaron Greenspan and Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin. The request seeks to disclose FBI files related to Tinubu’s involvement in the 1993 narcotics trafficking case.

Reports also detailed how his tax administration company, Alpha Beta, was used to siphon billions to shell companies.
