Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have ended their seven-day warning strike as of Sunday.
In a circular addressed to branch chairmen at public universities nationwide, SSANU President Mohammed Ibrahim instructed SSANU and NASU members to resume their duties starting from Monday, March 25, 2024.

After assessing the seven-day warning strike initiated on March 18, 2024, the unions expressed that “the pace of the warning strike has been significant, inclusive, and widespread across most of our universities and inter-university centers.”
SSANU and NASU commended the “commitment, determination, and allegiance of members to the union’s fight for the release of four months’ withheld salaries.”
“Consequently, you are hereby informed that the seven-day warning strike shall end at midnight of Sunday, 24th March 2024 and normal work will resume on Monday, 25th March 2024,” the circular partly read.
SSANU and NASU reassured their members that the endeavor to secure payment for the withheld salaries is ongoing.
They affirmed their commitment to “meaningful engagement with the relevant Government Agencies in both the Executive and Legislative Arms” and pledged to keep members informed about the subsequent course(s) of action to be pursued.
