‘I’m Still In APC,’ Rivers Lawmaker Tonye Adoki Refutes Rumors of Return to PDP

APC

In the aftermath of the mass defection of 27 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Adoki, representing Port Harcourt Constituency II, has categorically refuted speculations suggesting his return to the PDP.

The defection, which was announced on Monday, cited instability within the PDP as the primary motive behind the move.

However, the Edison Ehie-led group, supported by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, declared the seats of the defected members vacant on Wednesday.

Amidst this political turmoil, social media erupted with claims that Adoki had reversed his decision and returned to the PDP.

In response, Adoki personally signed a statement vehemently denying these rumors.

He stated, “It has come to my knowledge that some jobless and misguided youths are being used to spread fake news that I, Hon. Tonye Adoki has reneged from my defection move.

“It is on record that I was among the lawmakers that advocated this defection to the All Progressives Congress and I owe no one any apology.

“And I am still a member of APC,” he affirmed.
