Strong winds and pouring rain have been unleashed by Storm Ciaran, causing havoc over northwest Europe. Two people have died as a result of the storm: one in France and one in Spain.

According to reports, in the northeast of Paris, a truck driver was sadly killed by a falling tree. Additionally, 1.2 million French homes lost electricity as a result of the tempest. Authorities in Finistere, Brittany, have advised locals to stay indoors and stay away from the gusts, which have been recorded to reach 207 km/h.

A woman in central Madrid, Spain, was killed when a tree fell on her. The incident also harmed three additional people.

Following closely behind Storm Babet, which happened two weeks ago, is Storm Ciaran. Strong winds and heavy rain caused by it’s powerful jet stream, which raced in from the Atlantic, had already severely flooded parts of Britain and Northern Ireland.

Throughout the region, it has caused service disruptions, including the suspension of trains, schools, and airports. Fifteen people were hurt, including seven firefighters, in addition to the two fatalities.

However, in France, reports suggest that the issue appears to be lessening as the Meteo France meteorological service downgraded its red signal for severe winds to an orange one.
