Sultan of Sokoto-Led NSCIA Calls on Nigerian Government to Support Palestinians Amid Israeli Attacks

The NSCIA has called on the Nigerian government to openly support the victims of ongoing Israeli persecution, massacres, oppression, and suppression.

The organization, led by its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has criticized the U.S. government’s support for Israel in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In a statement by the NSCIA’s Deputy Secretary General and National Legal Adviser, Prof. Salisu Shehu and Yunus Ustaz Usman (SAN), the group expressed sadness about the war in Gaza and urged the Nigerian government to extend assistance to Palestine, similar to its support during the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, for the sake of humanity and justice.

The NSCIA also decried the brutality of the attacks on civilians in Gaza and called for an immediate halt to hostilities.

The council emphasized that sustainable peace should be pursued without double standards and that peace alone, without justice, may lead to future crises.
