Sunday Igboho Submits Petition To UK Prime Minister To Consider ‘Yoruba Nation’ Agitation

Sunday Igboho, also known as Sunday Adeyemo, has submitted a petition to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer concerning the secessionist movement in Nigeria known as the Yoruba Nation agitation.

The contents of the petition were described as confidential by the movement, but SaharaReporters has learned that it primarily focuses on this agitation.

The petition was submitted on Saturday by Sunday Igboho on behalf of Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Nation movement.

Accompanying Igboho were several dignitaries including Diaspora Youth Leader Prophet Ologunoluwa, Vice President of Ifeladun Apapo Fatai Ogunribido, General Secretary of Yoruba World Media Alhaja Adeyeye, and Member of Yoruba Nation Movement Paul Odebiyi.

The movement seeks the immediate intervention of the UK Prime Minister and his government in supporting their agitation for a country predominantly owned by the indigenous people of Yoruba.

Previously, Yoruba historian Banji Akintoye, a key figure in the Oodua nation independence struggle, accused the Nigerian government of attempting to persuade agitator Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) to abandon his cause.

During Igboho’s ordeal in Benin Republic, former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai allegedly attempted to influence Igboho with promises of billions of naira to renounce his Yoruba nation agitations.

Igboho reportedly refused to sign the paper, which was later taken away by Buratai.

He said, “He has been released completely. He has won the hearts of the people here for his strength of character. They brought money to this young man; how many of our young men will do that?

“Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, came to him in the prison, promising him billions of naira if he would just sign a paper that Buratai brought.

“That he (Igboho) should say he had renounced the Yoruba Nation struggle, that he didn’t want the Yoruba Nation struggle anymore, that he had opted out of it.”
