Supreme Court Says Old, New Notes Remain Legal Tender Till Further Notice

The Supreme Court has issued a directive stating that the existing N200, N500, and N1000 notes are to persistently coexist alongside the recently introduced notes until additional instructions are provided.

The apex court’s ruling on Wednesday emphasized that the old and new currency notes must maintain their status as legal tender until the Federal Government initiates a formal process for their replacement or redesign.
