Suspected Traffic Robber Arrested in Lekki, Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected traffic robber, known only as Ali, in the Lekki area of the state. The arrest was announced by the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday.

Ali, described as a “notorious traffic robber,” was apprehended in the Ikate area of Lekki while engaged in his illicit activities. The arrest was made possible through the combined efforts of local residents and the police.

Investigations reveal that Ali, posing as a beggar on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, terrorised unsuspecting motorists, robbing them of their cash and valuables under the threat of violence.

The Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) also disclosed its role in aiding the arrest of the suspect. Veronica Jacob, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Communications, and Marketing at LCC, revealed that the arrest of the Robber was based on an intelligence report.

The Chief Security Officer of the LCC, Solomon Tolafari, acted on reports about a man posing as a beggar who attacked and robbed unsuspecting motorists. Tolafari mobilised the Man ‘O War team, leading to Ali’s apprehension around the Ikate area on Tuesday.

Following his arrest, Ali was handed over to officers at the Maroko Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The state PPRO stated that the suspect’s arraignment would be contingent on the outcome of the investigation.
